TRUCK INTERCOOLER:
A truck intercooler, also known as a charge air cooler or CAC is a heat exchanger that is installed in the intake system of a truck's engine. Its primary function is to cool the compressed air coming from the turbocharger before it enters the engine's combustion chambers.
Turbocharged engines compress the air intake to increase its density and improve combustion efficiency. However, this process also heats up the air, which can reduce overall engine performance. The intercooler helps address this issue by cooling down the hot, compressed air before it is fed into the engine.
The intercooler usually consists of a network of tubes, usually made of aluminum, with fins attached to them. These tubes are designed to maximize the surface area available for heat transfer. As the hot compressed air passes through the intercooler's tubes, the cooler ambient air flowing over the fins cools down the compressed air. This process reduces the air's temperature and increases its density, allowing the engine to generate more power.
